Sikkim INSPIRES
The State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR), Sikkim, undertakes capacity-building and institutional-strengthening initiatives under Sikkim INSPIRES to support rural entrepreneurship and non-farm livelihood development. These interventions strengthen the Institute's ability to deliver practical, demand-driven training that responds to local enterprise opportunities and emerging skill requirements.
Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Development
The Institute supports capacity development in business planning, entrepreneurship promotion, digital branding and marketing, and enterprise development. Training interventions emphasise practical knowledge and skills to help stakeholders identify livelihood opportunities and develop viable business ideas.
Training Needs Assessment and Module Development
Training needs assessments and stakeholder consultations help identify skill gaps and capacity-building priorities across districts. These inputs guide the preparation of training strategies, learning materials and modular courses, including basic, refresher and advanced learning programmes.
Faculty Development
Faculty development programmes at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, and the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad, have strengthened expertise in business-plan development, entrepreneurship promotion, digital marketing and enterprise development. These initiatives enhance the Institute's capacity to design and deliver relevant training for rural enterprise development.
Digital Learning and Infrastructure
Under Sikkim INSPIRES, SIRD & PR has strengthened its training facilities through upgraded audio-visual systems, interactive displays, conferencing equipment and ICT tools. A dedicated digital studio supports the development of e-learning materials, webinars, podcasts and other digital knowledge resources.
Community Engagement through Gramin Samvaad
Gramin Samvaad provides a platform for interaction among government functionaries, Panchayati Raj Institutions, community organisations and rural citizens. It promotes awareness of development programmes, entrepreneurship, sustainable livelihoods and participatory planning while enabling communities to share local concerns and experiences.

Through these initiatives, SIRD & PR is strengthening its role as a resource institution for entrepreneurship, practical learning and inclusive livelihood development across Sikkim.
